We are very excited to bring you this first lesson in the “Easy Guitar Modes” series. Learning large complex patterns and memorizing confusing formulas can be frustrating. You want to make music!

This lesson starts with an incredibly simple nine-note pattern that you can memorize quickly and then easily move to other octaves and keys. This pattern contains every mode of the major scale, but we’ll start by visualizing it as Mixolydian, then Ionian, and then as Aeolian (natural minor). You will also learn how to see the minor pentatonic in this same pattern and you will quickly be playing all over the fretboard with confidence!  Also included- finding the G and A notes on your guitar.

This lesson package includes:

  • video with on-screen animated tab
  • printable tab PDF
  • Guitar Pro 6 file (optional- software not included)
  • three backing tracks for you to practice the solos in the lesson and try your own ideas

I have always been a huge fan of Melodic Principles and Metal Riffology by the same instructor Sarah Spisak. I am telling you this lesson ‘Easy guitar modes’ along with the upcoming lessons in this series demystifies all the mysteries of modes. Complicated as it sounds, the instructor Sarah Spisak made things extremely easy which even a 10 year old or less will understand easily. I would highly recommend this lesson along with ‘Melodic Principles’ if you want to go deeper. I am grateful to this lesson. Have a wonderful day playing.

well I made my purchase today and I am ready to commit to some serious practice daily alone with other techniques I am mastering I can’t wait to master this skill of modes to compose my own sound, so here go week one of practice and I will keep commenting my status far as achievement level.

I have many of the MM Videos from Dan, Doug, Mike, Sarah and sine Doug’s original MM on VHS Tape I’ve enjoyed and learned so much from them and they are always handy on DVD to review anytime. I just blew through a bucket of money on music books on Modes specifically and really only found one that was fairly good so I’m excited to see what “Shred Sarah” has cooked up in this one and when I’m done I’ll let you know but there is nothing sub quality that ever comes from MM so I’m confident it will be first class work.

Honestly, I bought this to help get my fingers back into shape and keep things interesting while I did so, but then I got a big bonus in refreshing myself with the Fretboard as well. This lesson also helped “reign me back in” in finding the patterns played within a song in order to more easily play additional tabs that I am trying to learn!

Thank you so much for an easy to understand and well thought out lesson plan Sarah!

To anyone thinking of grabbing this, I say go for it! You really can’t go wrong. Especially if you are like me and stopped playing for a bit and are trying to get back into the swing of things!

I have bought from Doug since 1984. I love your series because it’s shapes, modes. You give examples then a backing track. You explain how to apply and show how to apply then let us be creative on our own. That’s awesome most people just show here is a cool lick. Here it is at 200 mph lol. You go ok so what or how do I use it in real life? So you learn stuff and you can’t use it in anything original. This series is not like that. I have enjoyed it and have been able to apply it. In my opinion it’s very well put together, very well explained. Basically very well taught very awesome product!

    That’s honest truth.
